Christmas 2005

Christmas has come and gone and I find myself in disbelief that it was Aiden's 3rd! Let me say it again because I'm truly amazed... It was Aiden's 3rd Christmas!!! Wow! Where has time truly gone?
Aiden, who turned 2 on the 2nd of December, was thrilled about Christmas and Santa this year. The other 2 years as you can imagine have been more us (his dad and I) than him, but this year it was ALL about HIM! He couldn't wait to see Santa Claus. In fact the little munchin' visited him 3 times this holiday season and then had the opportunity to see Santa AGAIN Christmas Eve which put him right over the top and directly into Santa/Christmas Love! The pictures of him with Santa Claus are to die for. What a Ham!!
I think the best part about him enjoying Christmas this year is that this could very well be the first Christmas he remembers!!!! YIPPY! I'd like to say that I think this Christmas was the smoothest Christmas I've had in years and one of the best!
Christmas Eve fell on a Saturday which meant that regardless of work scheduling I had the ENTIRE Christmas Eve Day off! Which also means that Bryce and I had the opportunity to go "last minute shopping" for Ribbon, Bows, Wrapping Paper, Bags, Boxes and oh wait my favorite... Aiden without wasting a single drop of Christmas Eve! Phew. We stayed up soooo late wrapping gifts... 1am to be exact. We were absolutely exhausted by the time we were finished. I have to admit though I thoroughly enjoyed wrapping gifts this year, everything was just right. The only thing missing was my little Aiden boy (he was at his dads). Nonetheless, Bryce and I wrapped every last gift, including my dad's "I'm going to marry your daughter gift so, I want you to like me" 42' Harley Poster... oops I mean picture! Wink Wink!
The next day Aiden arrived around 11:30am and the rest of the day was spent with Auntie "Peecole", Auntie "Kiska" and Mommy running errands. Aiden was such a good boy despite the fact that his Auntie Krista wouldn't let him take a nap which I warned would result in an overstimulated, overtired, cranky, I don't know what's wrong but I want to be naughty, baby meltdown! Which it did but not until much later.
The Annual Christmas Eve Pary for our family was a success and a lot less stressful than I remember from previous years. Nobody ended up screaming, yelling, or bossing anyone around. We all just sort of did our own things... Especially our children. The hall and our Christmas eve party is almost like a safe haven for our family to drink, eat and be Merry all the while letting our children run around and do whatever the heck they want. I'm not going to lie... It was nice! I think I saw Aiden a handful of times during the 3 hours we were at the party. Oh, there he is... As he slithers buy doing the military crawl under the table. Over there! As he zooms from one end of the hall to the other in a mad dash race with his cousin Tommy and friend Jake (Arel). Oh and the Awwwww.... I see him as the entire family does a half body bend to look adoringly at the little angel lying under the table admiring Santa as his name was called to receive an early Christmas gift. Yes, that is my beautiful, bold personalitied son on Christmas Eve!
After about 3 hours the only remaining family members are the immediate family plus Uncle Bub, Lexi, Mem & Pep and we all decide ( just as we do every year) to clean up after we celebrate over to Bumpi & Mimi's.
Aiden had a blast tearing through the stacks of Christmas gifts he had received from family members. Oh what fun it was to watch him eye the package and then decide on where to make the first attempt at ripping the paper off. He amazed me though, as he knowinly turned the boxes to find the edges without tape and pulled! What 2 year old masters the art of opening gifts? I guess I have my own baby genius... But then again that's not something I don't already know! He's fantastic.
Around 11pm I finally got him to go down. Not without a fight of course and boy what a fight it was. Kicking, screaming, wailing, begging, gagging, crying those big ole' crocodile tears.... But alas the munchin' was dreaming of sugar plums and snuggled up close to his mommy.
The next morning Aiden slept until 9am... and would have continued sleeping if I didn't wake him up. I tried to get him to go upstairs and see what Santa brought but he pleaded "No mommy... No more presents." 10 minutes later we were upstairs and we were opening gifts from Santa... Well I was opening most of the gifts from Santa.
His favorite Gift: Red Saucer
Some of his other gifts:
Auntie Missy & Bryan: Patriots Jersey
Auntie Krista: Timberland boots (soooo adorable)
Auntie Nicole: Bob the Builder
Mimi & Bumpi: Everything imaginable... But a race car piggy bank to match his Train & Motorcycle banks.
Mommy: Clothes
Bryce: Castle Bounce House
Sharon, Tom, Lauryn: First Go Fish, Wooden Thomas the Train Car's, Train Puzzle, Thomas the Train Coloring Book
Memere & Pepere: Toddler Kareoke Machine (soooo freakin' cute I can't wait to play with it)
Well, that's it! Oh Wait... I know this may come as shock to almost everyone but I also made Christmas breakfast for Everyone! Eggs, hashbrowns, toast and Sausage!! Oh yeah!
Merry Christmas Aiden you big boy!!!
I love you.
Mommy~
